In 2008 Vason was invited by the Festival Panorama de Dança (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) to further research new ways of documenting contemporary dance, working with the artists participating in the festival. The result was a a selection of images and a collaborative video piece, which has been presented in festivals and platforms internationally.
“I am aware of the impossibility of documenting a live performance, but I find this dilemma the sparkle for the development of new forms of documentation.
For Panorama I have asked to each choreographer to select a pinnacle moment of their piece of dance and present it as a single image, standing on a plinth, for a period of 3 minutes, on a location at their choice.
The intentions of Panorama is to display the correspondence of different art forms; in particular: dance, photography, video, sculpture and architecture.”
